Here we have used red gerberas, banksia, coccinea, protea, spinning gum, and other foliage to create a warm winter bouquet.

Here are two arrangements from our studio using artificial or ‘silk’ flowers in an unusual style. The arrangements include green cymbidium orchids, and beautiful magenta pink roses with willow sticks, palm sticks and housed in wonderfully textured palm leaf base.

Another cute and quirky creation from the from the curious mind of Gold Coast crafster LittleJojo. Yes, totally hand-stitched.

Last week we added a blue and white wedding to our portfolio, this week we’re adding a red and white wedding. Enjoy!

This mini dome display on a log is another curious thing: it could be a terrarium, it could display a cup-cake… just think of the possibilities. There are 3 only.

We have been having fun with all the rain, and now the freezing weather! Trying to think of something cheery to post while I sit here shivering! I know it’s Queensland, it’s not really that cold, comparatively, but it’s still cold! Anyhoo, check this out…

This is a very trendy block of test tube vases, just right for when you pick a few random flowers out of the garden. I’ve used green button chrysanthemums in the display because that’s what I had, but they’re happy little things aren’t they.

Welcome to our new website!

Please bear with us as we work on making it better and add lots of wonderful things for you to see.

Over the coming weeks we hope to add a shop functionality… there may be a few hiccups… but hopefully not…

Much love,

the AGF team.

Yes, we’re open tomorrow for Mother’s Day…

1: A nice bunch of flowers?
2: An arrangement in a box?
3: A silk arrangement?
4: An interesting plant?

It’s so hard to decide!

We have all the usual things in cut flowers, with fresh flowers arriving every day this week. Orchids, chrysanthemums, disbuds, lilies, roses, etc… just have a think and call us when you’re ready.
If you’d like to see more pictures head over to our direct2florist shop.

We also said we’d post some pictures of the new plants we have in store… so here we are:

Plectranthus mona lavender, medinilla myrantha, and 2 guzmania/bomeliads
‘life on the rocks’ dwarf umbrella tree, calathea makoyana, alocasia black velvet, peperomia
aloe parrasana, crassula ‘hobbit’, succulent whose name I forget!, & haworthia limifolia

…………………………………………………………………….

Wishing all mums, grandmums, nanas, and other special women who have played positive roles in the lives of others, a very happy day, we hope they know how much they are loved and appreciated!

This year Mother’s Day is on Sunday the 13th May.

We already know that gerberas will be scarce – they always are around mother’s day as the weather is getting cooler and as there’s such a high demand. But there are plenty of other flowers that are really lovely!

We have some new plants in store too, cute succulents and interesting indoor plants. We’ll try to get some photos to post for you.

We had a wonderful customer come in a few weeks ago, saying they had a tricky job for us. We love a challenge, and it was our privilege to be able to do this.

The request was to make a traditional Croatian shield/crest as a floral wreath for a service. Including a ribbon inscribed with ‘Rest in Peace’ but in the Croatian words, ‘Počivao u miru BoΕΎjem‘.

We used large and small carnations as the main flower, also some chrysanthemum as necessary to fill the spaces. The green foliage around the edge is mostly gardenia.

We hope you enjoy this one… it was a wedding using all different shades of red roses.

Red, red & red roses and glossy black berries as well as celosia to break up the texture
A buttonhole/boutonniere simply with a rose and black berries. This time we used a black dart to hold the stem, it acts almost like a little water vial for the rose.

We have been doing up some artificial cymbidium orchids in concrete/stone look pots, here’s a preview:

Artificial cymbidium orchids in stone look pot. Great for home or office!

Happy April everybody!

Often when people think of native flowers they think of dull and lifeless, almost dry flowers, that although they will last well, may not be as attractive as other flowers. While this can sometimes be the case, we don’t like dull either, and native flowers don’t have to be!

A native bouquet including banksia, protea, luecadendron, lily, celosia, gum.

We like the sculptural qualities of native flowers, and we like to combine them with other flowers, often vibrant tropical flowers which are also beautiful not only because of their colours, but because of their unique design.

Native arrangement including banksia, protea, anthurium, luecadendron, spider orchids, wattle, strelitzia…

Bouquet, tall arrangement, table arrangement, you are only limited by your imagination! (and what’s in season, of course.)

A native arrangement including protea, luecadendron, celosia, button chrysanthemum, banksia, etc…

I’m sorry, I can’t help it – posting again about tillandsias! We really should put more flowers up here, but anyhoo… who wants to see flowers when you can see a Super Deluxe Terrarium!

This is a vintage glass terrarium with white sand, incredibly burrowed driftwood, and three different tillandsia varieties.

Have a great week everybody!

Here we have 3 small agave plants in a concrete/stone look pot. We like the lush and fresh look of them, just so simple and natural, and pure.

Something like this is suitable for many occasions, from baby boy, to thank you, to sympathy. In this arrangement we have included white oriental lilies (to open), yellow gerberas, blue iris, white freesias, and snow berries, as well as xanadu, gymea and spinning gum for foliage.

We can’t help posting again about them… we’re so in love.

The Tillandsia Medusae is flowering!  How happiness!
Tillandsia Cynea in rustic ceramic with white pebbles. Another month till flowering.
Our darling Tillandsia Magnusiana in a fishbowl vase with sand, charcoal & grey shells.
…Care, humility, rank, and pride
In the sight of the flowers are laid aside.
Bright, oh! bright are a thousand shades,
Crimson splashes and slender blades…

Happy Valentine’s Day!

We should probably say something about how Valentine’s Day is next week, and how we will have wonderful flowers (particularly roses πŸ˜‰ and you should all come in and get some! But we don’t need to tell you that do we? We’ll just let these bears lure you with their cuteness.

If you would like a passionate speech about why red roses are so fitting for the occasion see our post: here
